Debbie Harvey – My Story
I have over thirty years’ experience working in both private and public sector organisations as well as for myself. My career history is extensive and diverse resulting in an extensive skill set and wealth of experience that can easily be applied and adapted to a variety of situations.
After leaving school, I worked for one of the major banks where I obtained an excellent grounding in good customer service. Six years later, I took a role as a personal assistant to the purchasing director – a job which provided me with excellent planning and organisational skills.
Due to my keen interest in figures (“sadly” some would say!) I progressed to forecast controller where I spent a number of years liaising with both production and warehouse to ensure that stock was made and delivered in time to meet customer orders. After taking voluntary redundancy, I decided to do something completely different and opened a sandwich shop.

In the three years that I was trading, I learnt so much about myself, employing staff, the general public, book-keeping, stock control and general juggling of a small business whilst running a home.
Prior to founding SimplySolved, I worked for a local authority for fourteen years where I worked my way up from finance officer to business intelligence manager.
Some of the skills that I have acquired along the way include managing staff, motivating and leading teams, achieving strict deadlines, project management, negotiating and liaising with clients as well as manipulating and presenting data.
My partner was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017. His positivity and way of dealing with everything that he endured, taught me the importance of living for each day and the value of appreciating what you have. After re-evaluating my life, I decided to form SimplySolved and to invest my time in providing a service for businesses looking at outsourcing personal assistant tasks.
